A risk worth watching. ZCode pairs a genuinely impressive agent-first architecture with GLM-5.2 — a top-2 coding model — at pricing that undercuts Cursor and Claude Code by 50-80%. The BYOK + MIT-licensed self-hosting story is a direct answer to the Fable 5 export-ban lesson. But Z.ai is still unprofitable, Linux support is beta, and security reviewers have flagged credential-handling concerns for remote/messaging-triggered tasks. Conditional until the ecosystem matures and trust catches up to the technical promise.
