Conditional because every safety assurance behind those powers is Meta's own and unaudited, and we have not watched it execute a single purchase. Right for US consumers who will supervise an agent; wrong for anyone needing audited security over payments or health data.
Meta describes an autonomous agent loop on Muse Spark that keeps working on a goal in its own VM and browser, not a model inside one chat turn.
Is it right for you?
Good for
- Everyday consumer errands: Meta's launch page and tbreak's launch report describe browsing the web, filling forms, booking travel and completing purchases
- Reaching the agent where you already are, with web, iOS, Android and WhatsApp all live at launch
- Long-running background goals, which Meta describes as scheduled and event-triggered work with persistent memory across sessions
- Trying an agent without paying, since Meta expects most people to stay on the free tier and shows an in-app meter before usage becomes billable
- Users who want an audit trail: Meta lists activity logs, permission management, editable memory files and approval cards on irreversible actions
- Paying inside the agent, through Link by Stripe, with Shop Pay and 1Password stated as forthcoming
Not good for
- Anyone outside the United States, which is the only launch market
- Users unwilling to put a card on file, since one is required to start even on the free tier
- Buyers who need independently audited agent security, because the Muse Secure VM and the Sentinel monitoring agent are Meta's own descriptions with no third-party audit published at launch
- Anyone weighing the vendor's privacy record, which TechCrunch's launch coverage catalogues as a 2011 FTC settlement, a $5 billion penalty in 2019 and further FTC charges in 2023
- Production or business-critical automation, since Meta's own launch page says "we also know it's early"
